Spill of Quill's Creative Writing Magazine

Our magazine's aim is to offer the students of UZH and ETH the opportunity of having their creative stories published and shared among their colleagues.

The creative writing magazine, and the overall association, is thought for any student who loves writing fiction, drama and poetry, without

the language barrier.

Form:

We accept poetry, prose, drama, and any form of creative writing in any language. If your composition is not written in English, please provide both the original work and a basic English translation (e.g. from DeepL).

Guidelines:

Word document (Docx) set as follows:

  • A5

  • Font: Garamond; color: black, size: 10.5

  • Paragraphs: line spacing 1.15, justified

  • Borders: 2 cm from right, left, and lower borders (standard); 1.5 cm from top border

Name the document with the title of the work and the name you would like to use in the magazine (i.e. name, name and last name, pen name, etc.) in case of publication (e.g. Pigeons_Bob.docx).

With these settings, MAX 3 PAGES (not including the translation). Works of 4-5 pages will be considered only if there is still space left.

Disclaimers:

  1. For reasons of space, the submission of your pieces does not automatically result in their inclusion in the magazine. The Spill of Quill's editing board will decide on which pieces to include: you will be informed by e-mail if your work is going to be featured in the magazine.

  2. Please submit original works only: do not send anything already published elsewhere. 

  3. You are allowed to send more than one submission. However, you have to adhere to the page limit for each submission.

  4. We do not accept any offensive, explicit or discriminatory content. Final judgment on this matter rests with the Spill of Quill's editorial board.

  5. Spill of Quill takes no responsibility for the correctness of the language of texts excluding texts written in German, Italian, French, and the English translations.

  6. The rights of the published texts stay with the authors, whose names will be published on the magazine as they are provided. However, with your submission, you are authomatically authorizing Spill of Quill to publish your work on its magazine. In addition, you alone are responsible of submitting only your own personal work, which should not be contractually bound elsewhere.
